The 12th International conference on Fiber Lasers (RFL-2026)

Fr om September 2 to 6, Special Systems. Photonics participated in the 12th International Conference on Fiber Lasers – RFL-2026, held in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok. The conference brought together researchers, laser developers and industry representatives working across fiber laser physics, nonlinear optics, sensing, integrated photonics and advanced optical components.

For our team, RFL-2026 provided an important opportunity to present our partners’ technologies directly to a highly specialized audience and to discuss current requirements of Russian R&D laboratories and photonics companies.

A key part of our participation was an application-oriented demonstration area, where our engineers presented equipment not simply as individual products, but as elements of complete experimental and measurement setups.

The central live demonstration combined an OPEAK ASE-1060 amplified spontaneous emission source with a 6362D optical spectrum analyzer. Visitors were able to observe the complete measurement workflow, evaluate the broadband emission spectrum and explore practical spectrum-analysis functions. This hands-on format helped demonstrate how partner equipment can be integrated into real laboratory tasks and enabled detailed technical discussions with potential users.

Our team also introduced a demo area of partner technologies relevant to fiber laser research and development, including:

  • FEX-LASER single-frequency and ultra-stable laser systems, optical frequency combs, narrow-linewidth fiber lasers and scientific-grade amplifiers;
  • OSCOM fiber-processing technologies, including glass-processing, fiber tapering, specialized splicing and fiber preparation solutions;
  • DK Photonics high-power passive fiber-optic components for CW and pulsed laser systems;
  • TEMSENS and ZEPREN SOLUTIONS optical spectrum analysis, high-resolution reflectometry and instrumentation for characterization of fiber components and photonic integrated circuits;
  • YSL PHOTONICS femtosecond laser and supercontinuum platforms for nonlinear optics, spectroscopy and advanced research;
  • laser diodes (LD-PD, LBTEK), optical modulators, passive fiber components, optical elements and other building blocks for complete photonic systems (UPOLabs, CAS COLD ATOM, ROFEA OPTOELECTRONICS, EV, OMTOOLS).

As part of the scientific excursion program, the Special Systems. Photonics team also visited the Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF) in Koltsovo, Novosibirsk Region. SKIF is a major Russian megascience facility based on a 4+ generation synchrotron radiation source with an electron energy of 3 GeV and a planned network of up to 30 experimental stations supporting advanced research in physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, geology, medicine, and related fields.

The visit gave our specialists an opportunity to explore the facility’s research infrastructure and experimental capabilities and, importantly, to gain a deeper understanding of the technological requirements of next-generation Russian research centers. This experience helps our team more effectively identify potential applications for our partners’ photonics, spectroscopy, laser, detector, and precision measurement technologies and better connect their solutions with the evolving needs of the local scientific community.

Throughout the conference, our application engineers discussed system configurations, component compatibility, customization options and integration requirements with researchers and developers. These conversations provide valuable application-level feedback and help us connect our partners’ product capabilities with the actual requirements of the Russian and CIS photonics market.

RFL-2026 once again demonstrated the importance of combining local market expertise with strong application engineering. For Special Systems. Photonics, participation in specialized scientific events is an essential part of our distribution strategy: we actively introduce partner technologies to target research groups, organize hands-on demonstrations, collect technical feedback and support customers from initial component selection to complete system implementation.
