The 23rd International Conference on Holography and Applied Optical Technologies – HOLOEXPO 2026

From September 7 to 11, Special Systems. Photonics participated in the 23rd International Conference on Holography and Applied Optical Technologies – HOLOEXPO 2026, held in Yekaterinburg. The conference brought together researchers, optical engineers and industry representatives working in holography, wavefront control, optical information processing, photonics and advanced applied optical technologies.

For our team, HOLOEXPO 2026 provided an important opportunity to present our partners’ technologies directly to a highly specialized scientific audience and to discuss current requirements of Russian research laboratories and photonics companies. As part of the conference, Special Systems. Photonics operated an application-oriented demonstration area wh ere our engineers presented equipment in the context of real optical setups and practical research tasks.

The central demonstration was the SSP-Holo-45R holography platform. The system combines a spatial light modulator (SLM), an RGB laser module and optomechanical components in a complete experimental setup for studying Fresnel, Fourier, multiplexed and colour holography.

Visitors were able to see the SLM operating as part of a real optical system, observe dynamic optical hologram reconstruction and discuss the use of programmable wavefront control in research, education and optical instrument development. This hands-on format made it possible to demonstrate not only the capabilities of an individual component, but also its integration into a complete optical experiment.

Our team also introduced partner technologies relevant to holography and advanced optical research, including:

  • FEX-LASER single-frequency and frequency-converted fibre lasers covering wavelengths from the UV to the near-IR for holography, spectroscopy and precision optical applications;
  • YSL Photonics femtosecond laser systems and supercontinuum sources for spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, imaging and advanced photonics research;
  • single-longitudinal-mode DPSS laser sources for applications requiring high coherence and stable optical output;
  • pulsed Nd and Nd laser systems for pulsed holography and other time-resolved optical applications;
  • optical measurement and spectral instrumentation, optomechanics and other components required for building complete experimental photonic systems.

An important part of our participation was also the scientific programme. Our engineer presented the report “Enhancing the Functionality of Optical Instruments through SLM Integration: Five Applied Solutions on a Single Platform” during the session on New Applied Optical Technologies.

The presentation focused on practical approaches to integrating spatial light modulators into optical instruments and demonstrated how a programmable SLM platform can extend the functionality of experimental and measurement systems. Participation in the scientific programme allowed our team to complement the live equipment demonstrations with an application-level discussion of the technology itself.

Throughout the conference, our application engineers discussed optical system configurations, equipment selection, component compatibility and integration requirements with researchers and developers. These conversations provide valuable feedback on current market needs and help us better connect the capabilities of our manufacturing partners with specific scientific and industrial applications.

HOLOEXPO 2026 once again demonstrated the importance of combining local market expertise with strong application engineering. For Special Systems. Photonics, participation in specialized scientific conferences is an essential part of our distribution strategy: we actively introduce partner technologies to target research groups, organize hands-on demonstrations, participate in the scientific programme and support customers in implementing complete optical and photonic systems.

We would like to thank the HOLOEXPO 2026 Organizing Committee for creating a professional platform for communication between researchers, engineers and industry representatives, as well as everyone who visited our demonstration area, attended our presentation and discussed their projects with our team.
