The 4th Scientific and Technical Conference “Methods and Means of Navigation”
Special Systems. Photonics participated in the 4th Scientific and Technical Conference “Methods and Means of Navigation” held fr om 30 September to 2 October 2026 at VNIIFTRI in Mendeleevo, Moscow Region, Russia.
The conference brought together navigation specialists, developers and industry representatives to discuss advances in navigation and precision measurement. For our manufacturing partners, it provided a focused setting for introducing their technologies to a professional audience working with navigation systems, measurement instruments and the components behind them.
Our team organized a dedicated demonstration area, presented equipment and introduced partner solutions relevant to the conference. Specialists discussed the capabilities of the equipment with participants, combining product presentation with direct technical communication. This format gave visitors an opportunity to explore the technologies with a local team able to explain their functions and relevance to navigation, precision measurement and quantum sensing.
Quantum sensing formed a central part of the technology overview. Our specialists introduced atomic magnetometers, quantum gravimeters and gradiometers, alongside optical and electronic components for developing quantum measurement systems. Examples included high-finesse optical cavities, vacuum cells, laser systems, magneto-optical traps and precision electronics. Presenting instruments alongside their supporting technologies provided an application-oriented perspective on the range of partner solutions, from individual components to equipment for complete experimental setups.
The broader overview covered precision optical and RF measurements, RF photonics and components for gyroscopy. Representative technologies included optical frequency combs, ultra-stable lasers, optical signal transmission and detection modules, and polarization-maintaining fiber couplers. Together, these areas connected the partners’ product capabilities with the conference’s focus on navigation and high-precision instrumentation.
Alongside the demonstration area, a company specialist delivered the presentation “Quantum Gravimeters and Sensors: An Overview of Equipment and Components.” The talk reviewed solutions for quantum measurements and the equipment used to build such systems. It complemented the demonstration area by placing sensing instruments and their supporting components within a broader technical discussion. For manufacturing partners, this offered another way to introduce their solutions: through an explanation of the technologies and equipment involved in implementing quantum measurement systems, rather than through product specifications alone.
This work drew on more than ten years of experience in the high-technology equipment market. As a distributor and integrator of laser, optical and fiber-optic technologies, Special Systems. Photonics combined equipment presentation with the technical perspective needed to connect products with research and engineering applications. The demonstration area and the conference presentation represented complementary parts of that role.
Participation in specialized scientific events remained part of our broader approach to developing the local market for partner technologies. Technical representation, application discussions and direct communication with research and engineering teams help manufacturers establish a presence beyond product availability. They also provide a channel for understanding local requirements and exploring wh ere partner solutions may be relevant to future research and development work.
We thank the organizers, conference participants and everyone who visited our demonstration area. We look forward to continuing our work with manufacturing partners and the scientific and engineering community through further technical exchanges and specialized events.
